Xiaomi reveals Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. Introduced in October, the Redmi Note 12 series includes four different smartphones: the Redmi Note 12, the Redmi Note 12 Pro, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+, and the Redmi Note 12 Discovery (aka Explorer). Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition is the company’s newest and sixth smartphone.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition’s name may imply that it charges faster than the standard Redmi Note 12 Pro. However, it charges at the same 67W rate through a wired connection. Like its non-Speed counterpart, this one has a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh and is compatible with Quick Charge 3.0 (QC 3.0), Power Delivery 2.0 (PD 2.0), and Power Delivery 3.0 (PD 3.0). Similar to the Redmi Note 12 Pro, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition has a similar design.

Redmi only modified the layout of the camera island by moving the company’s logo from below to above. We wouldn’t be shocked if it were released under the Poco name in areas outside of China since it looks quite similar to the Poco smartphones. Despite sharing the same form factor and battery capacity as the standard Note 12 Pro, the Speed Edition weighs just 181g, which is six grams less than its non-Speed counterpart.
However, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition diverge mostly in their processor and camera specifications. Powered by a Dimensity 1080 SoC and features a 50MP main camera, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is accompanied by a Snapdragon 778G processor in the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition, which also has a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 camera (no OIS, though).
A 2MP macro camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera accompany it. The Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition also has a 6.67-inch FullHD+ 120Hz 10-bit OLED display, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a fingerprint reader on the device’s side. It has an NFC chip and can connect to 5G networks.

In addition, there is a USB-C connector, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and assistance for both wired and wireless Hi-Res Audio, as well as Dolby Vision. It has a linear motor on the X-axis, dual speakers, and a protection certification of IP53.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition boots MIUI 14 based on Android 13, whereas the standard Redmi Note 12 Pro boots MIUI 13 based on Android 12.
There are three different memory configurations to choose from 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB (the 6GB model only comes in black). The 6GB and 8GB models can be purchased for CNY1,699 ($245/€230) and CNY1,799 ($260/€245), respectively. CNY1,999 (approx. $285 / €270) is the price of the 12GB model.
There is currently no information on the international release of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. However, it will be available in China via the official Xiaomi Chinese website.
