Xiaomi 13 announced with SD 8 Gen 2, new Leica cameras along with Xiaomi 13 Pro. The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are Xiaomi’s newest top-of-the-line offerings. Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, built on TSMC’s advanced 4nm manufacturing process, powers both smartphones.
Xiaomi 13 announced with SD 8 Gen 2, new Leica cameras along with Xiaomi 13 Pro
The two gadgets have a fresh look and, more crucially, a significant improvement to the cameras. They are only available in China, but we anticipate a worldwide rollout soon.
Xiaomi 13 Specification
For the most part, the screen of the its 13 Pro still needs to be updated. We have a 6.73-inch screen that’s almost similar to the one on the Xiaomi 12 Pro. As an LTPO panel, it has a variable refresh rate of 120Hz, and other features include 1440 by 3200 pixels in resolution, support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG, and aggressive PWM at 1920 by 1 billion shades per millisecond in the form of direct current (DC) dimming.
The display can dynamically modify the color temperature based on the surrounding environment using a built-in color temperature sensor. This improvement solely pertains to the maximum and peak brightness claims. The new 13 Pro’s display can attain a maximum brightness of 1,900 nits during HDR video playing, for example, and 1,200 nits over the whole panel otherwise. LPDDR5X memory and advanced UFS 4.0 storage complement the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro retains its predecessor’s triple 50MP camera arrangement at the back. However, these sensors have been significantly improved upon for this model. Leica’s f/1.9 lens with Hyper OIS has been coupled with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s famed 1-inch, 1.6-micron Sony IMX989 sensor. A significant improvement has also been made to the telephoto camera.

It’s 50 megapixels, but with a more extended 3x zoom range, a Leica Floating Lens element, and a little narrower f/2.0 aperture. The 10-centimeter tight focusing distance is an intriguing feature. The ultrawide does not have cutting-edge upgrades; instead, it retains the tried-and-true 50MP, f/2.2, 14mm device with macro functionality and AF.
Xiaomi’s Surge G1 processor and a slightly larger 4,820 mAh battery provide safe 120W cable charging and 50W wireless charging, respectively. In addition, standard 10W reverse wireless charging is supported. We haven’t learned anything new.
As a new addition to Xiaomi’s mainstream flagship line, the Mi 8 has Dolby Atmos-tuned dual speakers with Dolby’s new head tracking capability, an infrared blaster, and, of course, IP68 dust and water protection. The device’s ceramic back is painted in four colors: white, black, green, and light blue genuine leather. The formerly round camera island is now almost square.
Xiaomi 13 Pro Specification
The 6.36-inch screen on the Xiaomi 13 is a modest upgrade from the 5.84-inch panel on the Xiaomi 11 “in diagonal and retains nearly all of its predecessor’s features: 1080 by 2400-pixel resolution; 120-hertz refresh rate (no fine-tuning possible because it’s not LTPO); Dolby Vision; HDR10+; HLG support; ambient color temperature sensor.
While the 13 Pro has a maximum and peak brightness of 1,200 and 1,900 nits, respectively, the OLED display has the same numbers. All of Leica’s cameras have a sophisticated rear camera arrangement. The primary instrument is a 23mm f/1.8 1/1.56 50 megapixel camera “, Hyper OIS, and a 1.0m lens. The addition of an appropriate telephoto has addressed the fundamental flaw of the Xiaomi 12.

Featuring a Leica lens, f/2.0 aperture, and natural 3x zoom, the 10MP OIS-enhanced camera is a welcome addition. In its current iteration, the ultrawide has 12 megapixels and an aperture of f/2.2, without, most likely, autofocus.
The 4,500 mAh battery and support for 67W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging remain unchanged. Dolby Atmos dual speakers with Dolby Head Tracking, an infrared blaster, and IP68 certification against water and dust are some of the other features of the Xiaomi 13.
Unlike the Pro, the vanilla version settles for regular glass on its back and comes in Black, Light Green, Light Blue, Gray, and White. There are also more bright options, like red, yellow, green, and blue, but only light blue is leather like the Pre. Even if the camera island on the back of the 13 and 13 Pro are similar, the vanilla 13 stands apart because of its glossy, flat side frame reminiscent of the iPhone.
