Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Vs Exynos 2400, which one is better?

A few days ago, South Korean manufacturing giant Samsung unveiled its latest flagship mobile phone, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series. The series features two chips, the Samsung Exynos 2400 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, both of which stand out as two of the most powerful SoCs currently available in the market. Tech enthusiasts have since tested the performance of both chips in the Galaxy S24 series mobile phones, using popular and globally accepted benchmarks. The benchmark scores now allow us to determine which of these chips best suits our needs.

Key differences between Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400

let’s succinctly discuss the key differences between these chips. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 features an octa-core CPU, while the Exynos 2400 boasts a deca-core CPU. This implies that the Exynos 2400 operates as a 10-core processor with a higher GPU frequency (~56%) and 2 more cores compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which functions as an 8-core processor.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 houses one Cortex-X4 CPU core clocked at 3.3GHz, whereas the Exynos 2400’s Cortex-X4 CPU core operates at 3.2GHz. Additionally, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 includes three Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 3.15GHz and two Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 2.27GHz. On the other hand, the Exynos 2400 features two Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 2.9GHz and three Cortex-A720 CPU cores clocked at 1.95GHz. Both chips offer support for UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5X RAM. Notably, the Exynos 2400 is capable of driving 4K 120Hz screens, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 reaches its maximum potential with QHD+ screens at a 144Hz refresh rate.

AnTuTu Benchmark scores

The AnTuTu scores of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and the Exynos 2400 SoC have garnered significant interest. Initial AnTuTu runs reveal that both chips deliver decent performance, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC outperforms. On the Galaxy S24, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC achieves a score of 1,699,940 points, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra attains 1,819,945 points.

The Exynos 2400 scores 1,639,695 points. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 outperforms the Exynos 2400 by at least 6.7% in performance, as indicated by this score. It’s crucial to highlight that the Exynos 2400’s score surpasses that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 by about 9%, with a score of 1,502,531 points. Additionally, in CPU and memory tests, the Exynos 2400 surpasses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Nevertheless, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC has garnered acclaim for its impressive performance across various benchmarks, underscoring its competitiveness in the high-end SoC market.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 outperformed the Exynos 2400 in the AnTuTu 10 benchmark, scoring 2076K compared to the Exynos 2400’s 1652K. This showcases a 26% superior performance for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Result

Consequently, based on the AnTuTu test results, the performance advantage of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 ranges from 6.7% to 26%.
