Samsung Galaxy S24 series could have exclusive Snapdragon 8 chipsets

Samsung Galaxy S24 series could have exclusive Snapdragon 8 chipsets. Samsung’s Mobile Experience (MX) unit is reportedly developing a Galaxy flagship chipset. It’s too early for the Galaxy S23 series. TM Roh will discuss the new chipset during the S23 launch (says Ice Universe).

Is it ready for S24 next year? Yogesh Brar said that the “Snapdragon Mobile Platform for Galaxy” would be utilized next year, suggesting “no.” The Galaxy S23 uses the SM8550-AC, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 version with faster CPU and GPU clock rates.

Qualcomm has introduced AC chips before, but this time Samsung has exclusivity. We are still determining whether it’s a temporary exclusive or if other OEMs will utilize the overclocked chip later this year.

Other manufacturers will ultimately succeed. Brar believes the Snapdragon for Galaxy initiative will last until Samsung MX’s in-house processor is complete, after which the exclusivity agreement might switch brands. Maybe 2025. We’ll know more if TM Roh gives a preview during the Galaxy S23 presentation.
