Redmi the sub-brand of the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is on the way to releasing the Xiaomi Redmi K40 series. Last week, they confirmed the launch of the Redmi K40 series in February. And we got much confirmation about its specs from Redmi GM ‘Lu Weibeing‘. Now, another important piece of news comes out from Redmi Product Director Wang Teng Thomas. Yesterday, Thomas hints to power two Redmi K40 smartphones with Snapdragon 888 SoC chipset on Weibo.
The machine-translation of Thomas’ Weibo post reads that there is more than one Snapdragon 888 version in the K40 series. If you take a look on last years Redmi K30 series, then you will get that which 2 devices will powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Redmi K30 series was consists of Redmi K30 5G, Redmi K30 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro Zoom edition. The last duo was powered by the Snapdragon 865G. So, the first K40 phone with an SD888 chip onboard could very well be the Redmi K40 Pro smartphone. The second SD888 phone could be the successor to the Redmi K30 Pro Zoom edition.
The company is also expected to launch a vanilla model powered by a new MediaTek chip or the new Snapdragon 7-series sm7350 chip by Qualcomm.
