Redmi 12C was announced with a 50MP main camera and Helio G85 SoC
Redmi 12C was announced with a 50MP main camera and Helio G85 SoC. A few days ago, Xiaomi’s Redmi brand announced the Redmi K60 line of smartphones, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition, and a slew of complementary accessories. And now, just days before the end of 2022, Redmi introduced a brand new budget phone they’re calling the Redmi 12C.
The Redmi 12C has a 6.71″ HD+ screen with a notch for the 5MP front-facing camera. It has a fingerprint reader and two cameras, the primary one being 50 megapixels, on the rear panel, which also has a non-slip material and diagonal stripes. Redmi doesn’t specify what the second camera is for, but it’s likely a depth sensor based on what we know about it.

An Helio G85 SoC powers the 12C, and it has up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, up to 128GB of storage, and a 512GB microSD card slot for additional space. The phone runs MIUI 13 (presumably based on Android 12).
However, the 12C runs a “unique, optimized version of MIUI 13,” so you won’t receive all of MIUI 13’s features. The Redmi 12C furthermore has a 5,000 mAh battery, a micro USB connector, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is compatible with 4G networks and contains a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
The Redmi 12C can be had in four distinct hues with three distinct memory configurations: 4GB/64GB, CNY799 ($115/€110/9,585), and CNY899 ($130/€120/10,785). It will be available for purchase on January 1st, 2019, on the Xiaomi Chinese website.
