Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 revealed specs, 30% more efficient, 10% faster. Qualcomm has announced a revamped version of their flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. With the new chips promised speed improvements and increases to power savings.
The original chipset was never slow. Heat and power usage were its main issues. Qualcomm advertizes a 10% higher CPU performance and a 30% improvement in power efficiency for the CPU. Improvements to custom workloads happen with new frequencies: Prime core at 3.2GHz, Gold cores at 2.75Ghz, Silver cores at 2.0GHz.

The peak Cortex-X2 core can now reach 3.2Ghz, finally matching the clock speed of the Snapdragon 870 from early 2021 (the X2 in the original 8 Gen 1 topped out at 3GHz).
The other two CPUs got a boost as well, with new frequencies: Prime core at 3.2GHz, Gold cores at 2.75Ghz, Silver cores at 2Ghz and 2GHz respectively, up from 3GHZ/2GHZ/1GHZ respectively – just on top of them added 20% better performance per Watt ratio over previous versions of the chip. Similarly, improvements have been made to the GPU with it running 10% faster while reducing power consumption by 30%.
