Nokia 1.4 announced with a large screen and huge battery
Nokia 1.4 smartphone announced with a bigger screen and huge battery. The phone comes at a price of €99. The global sale will start soon.
Nokia 1.4 specifications
Display
The biggest change is the new display – a 6.51” panel with 720p+ resolution (20:9). For comparison, the Nokia 1.3 had a 5.71” display.
Processor
The new phone runs Android 10 Go Edition out of the box and is ready to jump up to Android 11 Go (the update is “on the way”). Sticking with Go edition is necessary as the device is powered by the Qualcomm 215 chipset (quad Cortex-A53 @ 1.3 GHz, Adreno 308).
RAM & Storage
The base configuration is pretty limited with only 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. But the top version has a fairly generous 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The MicroSD slot officially supports cards up to 128GB. And Android Go has excellent storage management tools to keep things slim.
Camera
The back of the Nokia 1.4 switches to the Oreo-style camera bump and now there are two modules onboard – an 8MP main camera as before and the new addition, a 2MP macro cam. Also new is the fingerprint reader mounted below. The phone is banking on Google’s processing algorithms in the Camera Go app to elevate the otherwise basic camera with features like Night and Portrait modes. There’s also the 5MP selfie camera.
Battery
The battery now has 4,000 mAh in its tank (up from 3,000 mAh). However, that didn’t come with a corresponding upgrade in charging speed – 5W is all you get, and (worse still) it’s piped through MicroUSB. As always, HMD is promising 2 days of battery life.
Connectivity and others
The phone has two nano-SIM slots and LTE Cat. 4 connectivity (150 Mbps down, 50 Mbps up). Additionally, there’s Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2, as well as GPS, same as before. The 3.5 mm headphone jack can be used to listen to FM radio as well as your own tunes.
