Motorola Edge 50 Ultra launched with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip and a wooden back design

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Specifications

Design

The phone’s design closely resembles the recently introduced Edge 50 Pro. It has a square camera island holding three lenses. You can get the smartphone in three styles: Forest Grey and Peach Fuzz, both made of vegan leather, and Nordic Wood, which has a genuine wood back infused with a light wood scent. All three choices include a Sandblasted aluminum frame.

Display

The Edge 50 Ultra boasts a 6.7-inch LTPS pOLED display. It has a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The screen reaches a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. With its 20:9 aspect ratio and HDR10+ support, it achieves a 93.8% screen-to-body ratio. It covers the entire DCI-P3 color space and is Pantone-validated. The display integrates a fingerprint sensor for security. It’s safeguarded by 3D Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with an anti-fingerprint coating.

Chipset, RAM, and OS

The device runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, has 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and offers 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Edge 50 Ultra runs on Android 14 and includes cool features like edge light for call, notification, and alarm alerts.

Camera

The Edge 50 Ultra has three cameras on the back. The main one is 50MP with a 1/1.3” sensor and f/1.6 lens. It has omnidirectional autofocus and OIS. There’s also a 64MP periscope camera with f/2.4 aperture. Additionally, there’s a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 122° field of view. Both have autofocus for macro shots. They use a laser autofocus system and a 3-in-1 sensor for exposure, auto white balance, and flicker detection.

The front camera has a 50MP sensor and autofocus. It has an f/1.9 lens. All cameras can record 4K video at 60fps. They also have slow-motion modes at 1080p (120fps on the front, up to 960fps on the back).

The camera system has many shooting modes including Portrait, Macro, Long Exposure, Timelapse, Dual Capture, Ultra-Res, Night Vision, Tilt-Shift, Pro, Spot Color, and Scan (powered by Adobe Scan), as well as 360° Panorama. It supports AI features like the Photo Enhancement Engine, Action Shot, Auto Smile Capture, Gesture Capture, Google Lens integration, Color Optimization, Smart High Resolution, and Style Sync.

Battery and Connectivity

Its battery, with a capacity of 4,500 mAh, supports fast charging at 125W through wires and 50W wirelessly, and can also share power wirelessly at 10W. It features dual-stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning for audio quality and includes x-axis vibrating motors for haptic feedback. The phone comes in single-SIM and dual-SIM versions, supporting both physical SIM cards and eSIM. It also has Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, along with NFC support.

Pricing and Availability

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra starts at €999 in the Eurozone. Although exact release dates aren’t out, the smartphone should hit certain markets in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania soon. It’s set to enter the North American market later this year.
