Motorola Edge (2024) launched in the US with a premium curved display, 68W fast charging, and an IP68 rating

Design

Let’s start with its design. It comes with a quite similar design to the Global Edge 50 Fusion. It arrives with a curved display and leather back. The Edge (2024) is 8.1mm thick and weighs 174g.

Display

This premium-looking device offers a 6.6” P-OLED curved panel with FHD+ resolution (20:9) and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits with DC dimming and 720Hz PWM. It features 10-bit colors at a 144Hz refresh rate and has a 360Hz touch sampling rate. This display has Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Processor, RAM, and OS

The Motorola Edge (2024) has an upgraded chip compared to its predecessor Edge (2023). It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen2 and paired up with 8GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and 256GB storage.

Camera

The primary camera features a Sony Lytia 700C, a 50MP sensor with 1.0µm pixels (2.0µm with binning), quad PDAF, and OIS. Accompanying this is a 13MP ultra wide-angle camera (120°), which serves the dual purpose of being a macro camera. Both cameras can capture 4K video at 30fps, with the primary camera additionally able to shoot in 1080p at 60fps. For selfies, a 32MP sensor with 0.7µm pixels (1.4µm with binning) is utilized, supporting video recording at up to 1080p @ 60fps.

Battery

Here is also an upgrade on the battery. It has a 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging. It can charge up to 50% in just 15 minutes. Furthermore, the Edge50 Fusion lacks 15W wireless charging, a feature that is available in this model. This model also includes a USB 2.0 port.

Other features

The phone lacks a headphone jack, however, it comes with stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos. Connectivity options include 5G sub-6GHz, Wi-Fi 6E (ax), Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. It is a dual-SIM phone that offers one physical slot (nano) and one eSIM.

Similar to the previous year, the phone also features an IP68 rating, indicating its ability to withstand being submerged under 1.5m (5ft) of water for up to half an hour.

The Motorola Edge (2024) is set to release in the US on June 20, priced at $550. It will be accessible on Motorola’s website, along with retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy, as well as various carriers like T-Mobile and MVNOs operating on Verizon and AT&T.
