Leak shows speculative renders of the Huawei Mate 50 series, talks about specs
Leak shows speculative renders of the Huawei Mate 50 series, and talks about specs. Although Huawei’s release timeline has been erratic, the company did indicate that it still intends to ultimately release the Mate 50 series. The most recent information on the subject includes renderings for the three major phones, a new tablet, and a range of speculative features.
Please take note that these are quite speculative and may turn out to be wishful thinking. Although only a 4G connection is available, the Huawei Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS are advertised with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor (instead of the Snapdragon 888). The Pro model will probably feature a 5G casing, similar to the one for the P50 Pro, to get around it, and the RS will also have a similar solution.
The standard Mate 50 will only have 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage, while the Pro and RS variants will have 12GB of RAM and 28/256/512GB of storage. According to reports, the smartphones will also have an NPU from HiSilicon for the XMAGE processing, an internal replacement for the camera technology created in collaboration with Leica.
Speaking about the camera, it is rumored to include a 50MP primary camera with a switchable f/1.4 and f/4 aperture. That should be an IMX800 on the Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS, but an IMX766 on the base device. Although the specifications of the ultra-wide and telephoto lenses are unknown, all three versions are anticipated to contain them. On the Pro and RS variants, the selfie camera will be a 13MP device with a 3D sensor for face unlock.

For the 4,500mAh batteries on the Pro and RS (including wireless charging), and the 4,400mAh batteries on the vanilla variant, all three phones are anticipated to need 66W fast charging. According to speculations, BOE will produce the AMOLED panels for the Mate 50 trio. According to reports, the Pro and RS will have curved 6.78″ 120Hz LTPO panels (1,212 x 2,612px), while the standard model would have a flat 90Hz LTPS display (1,225 x 2,800px, the size is not entirely clear).
The key selling point of the Huawei 50 RS model will be its ceramic body, while the other two will have a metal and glass sandwich construction. The Huawei Mate 50E, the fourth edition with comparable specifications to the standard model but using the Snapdragon 778G processor, is among the speculated specifications (again limited to 4G connectivity).
A Huawei MatePad Pro 12.4″, a bigger version of the 11″ MatePad Pro from July, is also seen in the leak. There aren’t many specifications for this one, but an image does reveal the costs and the date of the presentation (September 7), when sales will begin.
For a 128GB Wi-Fi variant, it costs CNY 4,000 ($590/€580/47,000) (the 11″ slate cost CNY 3,300). The image’s only specifications are a 12.4″ OLED display (120Hz, 1,000 nits), a thin 4.9mm body, and “200+ PC programs” (this could be a new HarmonyOS feature).
