Apple supplier BOE could lose millions of iPhone 14 OLED panel orders
Apple supplier BOE could lose millions of iPhone 14 OLED panel orders. Apple struck a deal with Beijing Oriental Electronics to supply displays for the iPhone 14 series. However, in an article from The Elec, it reported that BOE is yet to receive approval from Apple for the iPhone 14’s displays, but this will likely result in marginal profits for Samsung and LG due to larger orders from BOE.
Apple halted production of the iPhones 13 OLED displays that produced by BOE back in February because of design changes made by them to increase yield rates. An executive from BOE joined with a few employees to visit Apple headquarters to explain what happened and why they made those changes unilaterally.

BOE asked Apple for authorization to produce OLED screens for iPhone 14 as well but received no response. In order to diversify their suppliers, Apple wants less reliance on companies like Samsung and LG which are meeting higher demands of Apple’s needs with their own proprietary suppliers.
