Oppo F21 Pro hands-on review has leaked. Oppo launched their F21 Pro series a few days ago, with 5G and 4G models. Both phones come in a Cosmic Black shade, but you can also choose to purchase the 4G model with the Sunset Orange color and the 5G version with a Rainbow Spectrum color. We had the chance to test (Oppo F21 Pro hands-on).
The Oppo Pro F21 4G’s Sunset Orange model, so these are our initial impressions. It’s a beautiful device. Oppo F21 Pro comes in the blue color of the box with an enclosure with a protective cover, a SIM tool to eject the SIM with USB-C cable, a 32W adapter, and all the normal documents. Its screen Oppo F21 Pro packs a 6.4″ FullHD+ AMOLED screen that has 90Hz refresh speed, a 180Hz sample rate for touch 600 nits peak brightness.
It’s worth noting that the F21 Pro has Widevine L1 certification, which means that it can stream 1080p video on OTT apps, such as Amazon Prime Video. It also has support for HDR10 as well as HLG codescs but it’s not able to use HDR video on YouTube. In addition, the implementation of Oppo’s screens’ refresh rate for the F21 Pro is quite weird. It offers two options for adjusting the refresh rate in the Settings > Screen refresh rate menu: High and Standard.
The latter increases the speed of refresh to 90Hz whenever you engage with the screen. The latter goes back to 60Hz after just a few seconds of no activity (except for the YouTube application, which stays at 90Hz all the time). This will help to save battery power when you’re reading or watching videos. But there is a Standard mode that designed to keep 60Hz for every situation, can also increase the speed of refresh to 90Hz. (Oppo F21 Pro hands-on)

It works exactly similar fashion to high mode. We have reached out to Oppo to get more clarity, but haven’t received any response at this time. We hope that this issue can resolved in the next update. On the other hand of the Oppo F21 Pro, we equipped with an island housing flash as well as three cameras – two MP depth and a 2MP microscope. We love the overall look and build quality of this Oppo F21 Pro Sunset Orange version. It’s slim and durable enough. It weighs 175 grams. it is comfortable for long use, however the frames with flat surfaces constructed of polycarbonate aren’t suitable for all users. The power and volume keys give good feedback.
Inside it’s the Oppo F21 Pro has the Snapdragon 680 SoC with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There aren’t many other options for memory available in India however, you can increase storage to 1TB using microSD cards, and the RAM can be five GB. That according to our experience isn’t much of a difference in real life.
The phone comes with Android 12-like ColorOS 12.1 from the box and will updated in March 2022 with an Android Security Patch. Oppo promises two Android version updates , and an additional four years worth of updates to security on its F21 Pro but didn’t reveal the frequency of these updates. The software that comes with the Oppo F21 Pro doesn’t offer something different than what other ColorOS 12.1-running smartphones do.
It’s important to note that the tactile feedback you receive on higher-end Oppo phones that run ColorOS 12, including the Reno7 Pro 5G, Find N, and Find X5 Pro when performing different actions , such as altering volume levels, isn’t included with the F21 Pro. This isn’t a surprise considering that it’s the F series is in the lower end of the scale and Oppo said it requires a separate motor, which the F21 Pro doesn’t have, which means it’s not something that will be available in a future software update.

The performance of the Oppo F21 Pro isn’t something to boast about, also. It performed well for navigating the UI and surfing the internet However, there were moments when it was erratic but you shouldn’t be expecting an outstanding gaming experience even at the highest settings in games like COD as well as PUBG.
